A few photos from our first day in Athens…
Athens, we are in you!
Knew there was a view of the Acropolis from our hotel rooftop. Did not expect to also get a partial view from the balcony off our room. (Trust me, it’s there)
It’s been decades since I’ve been on a flight this empty. An international one no less. One that departed at 6:05p and arrives at 9:45a Athens time. In other words, perfect overnight flight time.
The attendants mentioned it’s due to a bunch of weekend cancellations driving missed connections.
The TWA Terminal was a real blast to hang out at on a long JFK layover. Highly recommended.
Having a blast on our layover at the beautifully restored TWA Terminal at JFK with our friend Dawn (who lives in Brooklyn and came out to meet us).

Traditional pre-trip selfie.
Even though Beatrix is going to Sarah Lawrence, she’s not yet had the time to decline offers and withdraw applications. All of this is to say…
Union sent her an acceptance this morning. Nice highly personalized acceptance letter too.
It’s nice to be wanted at least.
Already physically and emotionally exhausted from this day and i’t far from over.
A morning full of feels.
A neighbor noticed two unmarked but federal looking vehicles in the neighborhood parked near the elementary school. Another neighbor approached the vehicles to inquire. Found out they were FBI, not ICE. A different neighbor verified the plates against a independently constructed database of known ICE/DHS/FBI vehicles. Confirmed that both were present at known ICE activity and spotted in and out of Whipple (ICE Headquarters) but could have been FBI in assist mode.
