Being an ally.

You know, I’m pretty sure being an ally does not mean what so many seem to think it means. It’s the exact same thing as if we were two sovereign nations. So many people hear the world “ally” and then do, well, what has become natural and culturally acceptable for them to do… They take over. They pretend the fight is their fight too. They don’t stop to ask what is really needed and think they know the goals and objectives and strategy and they just… Take over.

Just woke up. Read more of all the things.

Still sad.


Personally, I’m just sad about the whole thing. All of it.


For the record, my oldest offspring is Trans and married. Furthermore, Beatrix identifies as queer and currently has a girlfriend. Trans rights, LGBTQ rights, and Marriage Equality are more than just issues to me. They are personal.

As James Baldwin eloquently said,

“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.”

That goes for my family as well.


Choosing the right socks today…


It’s a biter out there.


The problem of learning the turn of your favorite authors personal lives is that it becomes impossible to read their work without reading into their work.

Might as well take the ones I have yet to get to and throw them in the bin knowing I likely wont be able to read them now.

Sad.


Few things irritate me more that someone’s inability to see and admit their own plainly visible hypocrisy.


Big fan of my daughter’s school’s mission statement.


Note to self: Drinking a cocktail with 3 1/2 shots of liquor and eating a bunch of cookies before bed is not a good idea unless you really intend to be up at 2:30am, dehydrated, gassy, and sugar spiking.

Took what should have been a small cheat way too far. Paying the price.
